HOW TO REACH AVEIRO

The nearest major airports are in Porto (also called Oporto) and Lisbon, and Aveiro is well connected to both cities by high-speed train. Lisbon is the larger airport with a wider range of international flights, but Porto is much closer and a major hub for Ryanair. Faro airport in the Algarve is significantly further away, but well served by low-cost carriers (mainly from the UK).

To get to Aveiro by train from Lisbon or Porto airport, in both cases it is first necessary to take the subway to one of the major train stations. The train then takes about 2 hours from Lisbon or 30 minutes from Porto; there is also a suburban train linking Porto and Aveiro which is only marginally slower and quite cheap.

More complete instructions will be given later.
