The visitor is invited to enter the world of the first manufactured glassware, unique pieces from the last Portuguese monarchs, commemorative pieces celebrating important occasions, and other decorative products created during almost 200 years of manufacture. There is also the possibility of visiting the Chapel of Our Lady of France, a national monument since 1910.

The museum is situated in the complex of Vista Alegre on the southern outskirts of the town of Ílhavo, created as a manufacturing centre in the early 19th Century. Porcelain is still produced on site by the Atlantis Group, and in addition to the museum there is the opportunity to buy porcelain and cristal products in nearby stores, as well as to explore one of the first and most emblematic industrial complexes and communities in the country.
